Home Decor GALORE, and More! Highland Park Fri and Sat

This weekend we are super close to Pasadena and Eagle Rock, tucked just off Avenue 64 between the 210 and the 110 freeways in a quaint part of Highland Park.  LOTS and LOTS of nice newer home decor. There's a handful of vintage items, not a ton, and a whole lot of records. (Though they are Herb Alpert and Perry Como, not Sex Pistols and The Beatles.) Clothing from ladies size 10 and some nice Women's size clothing. Linens, towels, china, dishes, pots and pans, holiday and Christmas decorations. SO MUCH Christmas decor! Everything is sparkling clean and ready to use. If you are redecorating your home, setting up a college dorm room, or looking for some nice decor items for you clients, this is the sale for you.  Friday 9-1   Saturday 8-2.

Collecting.

There are two kinds of folks, those who collect, and those who do not.  Bob collects.  His office is a treasure trove of kitschy iconic advertising, cartoon collectibles, tiny toys, sports memorabilia history, and then some.  If you are one of the chosen, and get to have a glimpse of this collecting wonderland, your eyes begin dancing around the room at record speeds just to take it all in. You can't, so don't even try.  Bob is one of my favorite people, ever, and was just recently blessed with his first grandchild. Can you IMAGINE going to Grandpa's office to play?  I can, and it's magical.

Our clients say the darnedest things.

It isn't the end of the year, so there is still time to add to our amazing client list, but I wanted to take a minute to thank the other half of the folks that make us who we are.  We have been more than blessed to work for some really great clients. This year we helped two brothers that we loved working with. At the end of the sale one said "I wish we had more dead parents so we could work together again."  I loved when one of our clients asked if we have our own show yet.  Maybe one day! One client called us "Effing-tornados."  It was one of my all time fav compliments.  So for Karen, Carleen. BranDee, Janice, Stephen and Chris, Michael and Kay, Susan, Desiree, Lisa, Beth, Samantha and the long list of fantastic clients we have had the pleasure to work for this year, THANK YOU.

Last day at La Crescenta - Saturday...

How lucky I am to live and work in an historic part of California. This week we have had a wonderful client and a great group of shoppers.  I enjoyed chatting today with some of our customers about the rise and fall of collectible cameras, an Ansel Adams college course and Canon vs. Nikon vs. Olympus.  Today's favorite customer was the gal that brought her own polaroid film to try out one of the cameras we had for sale. As the Wizard of Oz said "very resourceful!"

This week's Estate Sale LA CRESCENTA Fri and Sat 10/23 10/24

This weekend you will find us up a windy road, off the 210 in La Crescenta at the end of Lowell (and I mean the very end!)  You can find some tools, a series of vintage cameras, a full set of Lenox China Kristy pattern, bavarian glass, vintage records (YAY, i love the record dealers, they rock- literally!) clothing, a vintage twin bed set, mid century table and chairs, small furniture, yoga and pilates accessories, some costume jewelry, and a cool shot glass collection, This sale will be 9-1 both Friday and Saturday, on the smaller side.  Come see us Friday morning and have a doughnut on us!

Why did the deer cross the road?

To get to the Estate Sale! Putting up signs in the wee hours before our sale I saw this gorgeous sunrise and family of deer. What a great start to a fantastic sale day.  Thanks Arcadia! Always a pleasure to work here. We had an amazing turnout.

I shop at estate sales on my day off.

Driving to our Arcadia property to finish setting up for tomorrow's sale, I see a bunch of handmade Estate Sale signs. LOTS of signs. Arrows that keep leading me into the hills of Arcadia. (I was going that way anyway, but kept following just to see how close it would be to our sale.) Turns out, there is a lovely family holding a nice sale right next door to ours. Super nice folks, fair prices and I got this great bear.  So, come by tomorrow and see us at 1837 Chantry st in Arcadia, stop in at the neighbor's place, and make a morning of it.

This week's Estate Sale ARCADIA Sat 10/17

I love Arcadia, (and not just because it is so close to home!) the shoppers are friendly, it's freeway close to the 210/605. It's right by Taza my new favorite coffee place, (try the Arcadia for something icy and sweet) and it's a great place to hold a sale.  One day only, Saturday 8-2 near Grandview and Santa Anita.  Not stuffed and on the smaller side, but clean and organized with some really beautiful household/decorating/entertaining/vintage items.

It's all about YOU!

I HAVE BEEN THINKING of adding a blog for a while now, and after talking with one of my customers this weekend I am even more inspired. (Thanks Mark!)  I will make my welcome message a tribute to some of our favorite buyers. (Don’t worry favorite clients, you will have your day in the sun!)

Some, but not all, of my favorite customers-

J-  J works REALLY hard at being an awesome Ebay seller, and he is. He is thoughtful in what he buys, takes the time to do his research before and after the buy, and always is willing to lend a hand to other customers.  I appreciate his killer work ethics, and love to see his smile when he walks in our sales. I once asked his secret of Ebay success and he said “hard work."

B-  B has an eye for all things rococo, goopy, over the top, hollywood regency, the wonder years.  He is always a gentleman in the bargaining process and has a very good eye.  Love doing business with folks who are polite, and know the art of bargaining without being rude or insulting.

S- S is another eBay seller who has a keen eye, thoughtfully considers each purchase and has a hankering for really cool vintage furniture, which she transforms into magical decorator pieces. Always fun to see what she will transform next.

S and D- S and D are two people that instantly light up the whole room the second they enter it.  Hugs, smiles and kind words are always on the menu with these two.  Both have a knack for picking out one or two quirky items that completely fit their individual personalities and I always love to see what they choose.

Here’s a giant thank you to all of the people that make our sales so much fun. It’s the reason we love coming to work!
